Seal of Biliteracy
Replace Your Grade by Taking Credit Recovery!

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to high school seniors in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.

Students may quality for:

  • Golden Medallion: English + 2 more languages

    OR

  • Silver Medallion: English + 1 additional language

To earn the Seal of Biliteracy, you will need to meet ONE of the following:

  • Completion of 4 years of the same world language with a minimum grade of “B” for the 7th semester of your senior year

    OR

  • Score a 3 or higher on the Foreign Language Advanced Placement (AP) Exam. AP exams taken during senior year may not be used to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy. They need to be taken freshman, sophomore or junior year.

    OR

  • A passing score of 80% on the WUHSD Biliteracy Competency Exam

    To apply, talk to your school counselor or foreign language teacher.
